A Quick Review of Last Week’s Market…..

On Wednesday the bull market was recorded as the longest in recent history.

On Friday, it was reported that U.S. and Chinese officials are holding talks on a possible way to end the trade dispute. A potential meeting between President Donald Trump and China's President Xi Jinping is likely.

For the week, the Dow finished up 1.4% at 25,669.32; and  the S&P 500 was also up 0.6 percent at 2,850.13. However, the Nasdaq Composite suffered a loss of 0.3 percent to settle at 7,816.33.

Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) had a further pullback, three days in a row, with shares down 8.93%, or $29.95 to close at $305.50. This occurred due to an emotional interview with the New York Times from CEO Elon Musk, in which he discusses the immense stress he's felt in the past year.

Moving Ahead…..

The week ahead could continue its volatility as trade, Turkey and the Fed will dominate movement.

The annual Fed symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where Fed Chairman Jerome Powell speaks Friday, and central bankers will hold high level discussions about policy and the economy will be in focus.

Reviewing the Earnings Predictions from Last Week…..

NOTE: There was an article titled “Nvidia - Exit Before Earnings?” which would have resulted in members being able to make a potential profit of 64% if they had exited the trade before the earnings report.

When To Exit A Trade Based On Earnings?.....

It is also worth considering, when options trading earnings reports – “Do we exit on already existing profits or leave the companies to report their earnings and hope for bigger profit?”

As most traders realize, there is a 50/50 chance that the company stock price could go either way after reporting earnings – even if the report is good, the stock price could reverse – and if you hold a call option, means depletion of an already good profit if it exists. A similar situation can be found if you hold a put option, and a report is not that sound (and you expect a profit from this) but the stock price can, at times move upwards due to traders bias or other external conditions......READ MORE.....

Specialty retailer TJX Companies Inc. (The) (NYSE:TJX), an off-price apparel and home fashions retailer in the United States and across the world, is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings results before the market opens.
